S&E CareTrade Renews Carbon Neutral Certification: Continuing Our Commitment to a More Sustainable Future

July 29th, 2026

As sustainability becomes an increasingly important consideration across the healthcare sector, we're proud to announce that S&E CareTrade has successfully renewed both our Carbon Neutral Certification and Carbon Offset Certification.

For over 50 years, we've been committed to helping healthcare providers deliver outstanding care. Today, that commitment extends beyond the products and services we supply to include the way we operate as a business and the impact we have on the environment.

What does Carbon Neutral mean?

Being carbon neutral means that the greenhouse gas emissions generated by our business have been measured, managed and balanced through a combination of emissions reduction and certified carbon offsetting.

Achieving carbon neutrality isn't something that's done once and forgotten. It requires ongoing monitoring, continual improvement and a long-term commitment to reducing environmental impact wherever possible.

By renewing our certification, we're demonstrating that this commitment remains an integral part of how we do business.

What is Carbon Offset Certification?

While reducing emissions is always the priority, it's not always possible to eliminate every source of carbon emissions.

Carbon Offset Certification confirms that unavoidable emissions have been balanced through investment in independently verified environmental projects that reduce or remove greenhouse gases from the atmosphere.

These projects can include activities such as renewable energy generation, reforestation and habitat restoration, helping to create a positive environmental impact beyond our own operations.

Why sustainability matters in healthcare

Healthcare organisations are increasingly focused on sustainability as part of their wider organisational strategies.

From reducing waste and improving energy efficiency to working with environmentally responsible suppliers, the sector continues to explore ways to minimise its environmental footprint while maintaining high standards of patient and resident care.

At S&E CareTrade, we recognise the important role suppliers play in supporting these ambitions. By continually reviewing our own environmental performance, we aim to be a responsible partner for care homes, hospitals and healthcare providers across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

Our commitment continues

Renewing our Carbon Neutral and Carbon Offset Certifications is another milestone in our sustainability journey.

We remain committed to:

  • Measuring and monitoring our carbon emissions.
  • Identifying opportunities to reduce our environmental impact.
  • Improving operational efficiency wherever possible.
  • Offsetting unavoidable emissions through certified carbon offset programmes.
  • Operating responsibly for the benefit of our customers, colleagues and future generations.

Sustainability is a journey

Environmental responsibility isn't about a single certificate. It's about making continuous improvements that help reduce our impact over time.

As regulations, technology and best practice continue to evolve, we'll keep looking for new opportunities to strengthen our sustainability efforts while continuing to provide the exceptional service and trusted products our customers expect.

Looking to the future

Renewing our Carbon Neutral and Carbon Offset Certifications reinforces our commitment to responsible business practices and continuous improvement.

We're proud of the progress we've made, but we know there is always more to do. Sustainability is an ongoing journey, and we're committed to playing our part in creating a healthier future for our communities and the environment.

If you'd like to learn more about our sustainability initiatives or how S&E CareTrade is working towards a greener future, we'd be delighted to hear from you.

Together, we're helping to build a more sustainable healthcare sector.
